What’s New for 2024?

A new SE Black trim is set to arrive for the 2024 model year. And just as the name implies, the SE Black features black exterior accents along with a black roof and alloy wheels finished in black. Inside, you’ll get a black interior with seats featuring blue contrast stitching.

City dwellers and suburbanites in search of a compact yet practical ride. The Taos’ tidy proportions not only make it quite handsome to look at but also a dream to zip around through crowded city streets and crowded supermarket parking lots. The Taos is also a great place to be inside, thanks in large part to its tidy yet roomy cabin. There’s plenty of leg and headroom in both rows, not to mention ample cargo space for a vehicle of its size. Fold down the 60/40-split rear seat and the available cargo capacity expands to 66 cubic feet, which should take care of any shopping trip or impromptu move. The available panoramic sunroof opens the cabin, giving both driver and passengers plenty of sunlight to enjoy throughout the journey. Every Taos features VW’s comprehensive digital gauge cluster with higher trims offering more comprehensive information for the drive. 

Real World Performance

The 1.5-liter turbocharged inline 4-cylinder that powers the 2024 Taos splits the difference between sprightly performance and impressive efficiency. With 158 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque at your command, you won’t struggle with freeway onramps or hilly backroads. Power goes to the front wheels via a quick and capable 8-speed automatic transmission. Opt for VW’s famed 4MOTION all-wheel drive system and you’ll also get the 7-speed DSG dual-clutch automatic transmission. 4MOTION also gives you up to four available drive modes to make the most of the Taos’ all-wheel drive system, including Snow Mode and Off-Road Custom Mode. 4MOTION-equipped versions of the Taos also benefit from a sophisticated multilink rear suspension, providing a supple ride without sacrificing overall performance and capability.

And speaking of efficiency, the Taos does its best to ease anxieties at the pump with an eye-opening 28 mpg city and 36 mpg highway for front-wheel drive models. When equipped with 4MOTION all-wheel drive, the Taos achieves a respectable 25 mpg city and 32 mpg highway. Not bad for a capable compact SUV.
